Barilla is an unlisted family business run by brothers Guido, Luca and Paolo Barilla. The company was founded by her great-grandfather Pietro Barilla, who opened a bakery in Parma in 1877. Today, Barilla is known in Italy and throughout the world for the excellent quality of its food. With the brands — Barilla, Mulino Bianco, Back to Nature, Pan di Stelle, Gran Cereale, Harrys, Pavesi, Wasa, Filiz, Yemina, Misko, Voiello, Academia Barilla, First, Catelli, Lancia, Splendor, Tolerant and Pasta Evangelists — the family business is committed to a tasty, hearty and balanced diet based on Mediterranean cuisine and oriented towards the Italian lifestyle. When Pietro Barilla opened his shop in Parma 145 years ago, he was primarily concerned with producing good food. Today, this principle has become Barilla's business principle. For example, 8,700 people who share these core values and a passion for quality are currently working for the company and within the supply chain. Since 1987, a historical archive has been collecting and preserving the 145-year history of the company, which is now available through the Portal Museum is accessible to everyone and documents the path of an icon among “Made in Italy” products and the changes in Italian society.

Inspired by their common mother-in-law, who regularly uses tried and tested bitter substances after eating, the two founders pursue the mission of making the “bitter” taste positive again and bringing it back to people's awareness. The product range currently comprises 26 bitter products, which can contribute to increasing general well-being: four types of drops and capsules each, as well as sprays, powders, Probio complex and organic tea from the BitterLiebe tea factory — all made in Germany. Only selected natural herbs and roots are processed — preservatives, sweeteners or other additives are deliberately avoided. In addition, the products stand out due to their taste with a pleasantly fresh, gentle bitter note and their appealing product design. This means that BitterLiebe products belong in every kitchen, on every dining table or — when out and about — in every purse or trouser pocket!

Planted combines proprietary structuring and fermentation technologies to produce meat from plant proteins. By using only natural ingredients and avoiding preservatives in all products, Planted is setting a whole new standard in the category of plant-based meat products and making them a healthy and sustainable option for everyone. A growing population, higher life expectancy and rising incomes are key factors for the increase in global demand for meat. However, the current scale of the meat industry is far from sustainable. Planted wants to change that. The Zurich-based FoodTech StartUp, which emerged from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), was founded in 2019. It has quickly built up intellectual property around its technological approach and holds several patents.
Planted meat products are manufactured in a glass production plant in Kemptthal, Switzerland. Planted is thus offering the public a direct insight into meat production for the first time.
Meat from Planted is available in more than 5,000 restaurants and more than 6,000 retail outlets in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, the UK and the Benelux countries, as well as through its own Europe-wide web shop. Planted's meat product lines, which each consist of different protein sources (peas, oats, sunflowers), currently include planted.chicken, planted.pulled, planted.kebab, planted.schnitzel and planted.bratwurst. There are also various limited editions in close collaboration with celebrity chefs such as Tim Raue, Haya Molcho and Sebastian Copien.
